Case ChocOlé

Simcote enables an ecological eye-cather

Simcote enables an ecological eye-cather for ChocOlé

For their new product ChocOlé, Griesson De Beukelaer wanted a cylindrical, resealable cartonboard container that would present the chocolate sticks like a bouquet of flowers upon opening and make them easy to share.

As the packaging had to be airtight to preserve the product during storage, the converter Van Genechten used a compound material made of Metsä Board’s coated Simcote cartonboard and a metalized film to achieve the required barrier properties.

The packaging, consisting of three parts, is supplied flat and filled and sealed at the customer's. This is a unique solution that makes logistics more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Fresh forest fibres deliver award-winning sustainability

The judges of the 2013 Pro Carton ECMA Awards were impressed by the ChocOlé container material. Simcote – a fresh forest fibre cartonboard – is used even for the cap, which makes the packaging readily recoverable and recyclable.

As a result, the Sustainability Award was handed to the colourful eye-catcher that is also highly sustainable in terms of production, shipping and recycling.
