Colour, consistency, cost-efficiency and commitment

All brand colours and graphics with the utmost accuracy
Kemiart liners have been developed to reproduce all brand colours and graphics with the utmost accuracy. Their smooth surface structure ensures even ink lay-down thus releasing the full potential of the colours and densities in the brand package design.

While the basic purpose of a corrugated box is to protect the goods inside, the promotional function has become increasingly important. Since packages are a part of a product line, they must match the brand image. This is why it is vitally important to use a premium linerboard as a printing base.

Using Metsä Board’s coated Kemiart liners is the best guarantee for meeting the brand owner’s packaging requirements. The liners have been developed to reproduce all brand colours and graphics with the utmost accuracy. Their smooth surface structure enables an even ink lay-down and release the full potential of the colours and densities in the brand package design.

Consistency
Quality management is the key to the excellent consistency of the Kemiart liners. The very best profiles ensure smooth and efficient converting.

The consistency of Metsä Board’s Kemiart liners stems from:

  • The use of primary fibres
  • Advanced production methods
  • Strict quality management - from tight on-line moisture level control to continuous laboratory and printability testing

As every Kemiart reel must pass our rigorous standards, the liner quality remains consistent from one delivery to another. This ensures smooth runnability on the corrugator as well as on the printing machines, thus enabling corrugated converters to always deliver high-quality packaging to their customers.

Cost efficiency
The high-density Kemiart kraftliners enable enhanced productivity in corrugating. With Kemiart you can also count on consistent and cost-saving printing and converting results.

Modern corrugators are designed for speeds of more than 400 m/min. This level of productivity can only be reached if an effective heat transfer is achieved from the hot plates on the corrugator.

Thanks to their high density, Metsä Board’s Kemiart liners provide excellent heat conductivity, giving you the opportunity to improve quality and quantity as well as save energy.

In printing, Kemiart liners enable high running speeds and fast ink-drying times. Our range of coated liners also includes a grade specially designed to meet the needs of in-line conversion in the flexo postprint industry, even without dryers. Depending on the equipment, printing speeds of 6,000 to 15,000 sheets per hour have been achieved with in-line die-cutting.

The consistency of Kemiart liners also reduces waste in converting and packaging processes. Moreover, corrugated materials are made of wood fibre, a self-renewing, inexhaustible and biodegradable raw material that can be recycled or used as biofuel.

Retail ready packaging
Retail Ready Packaging (RRP) enables products to be displayed effectively within their transport packaging, with little or no need for unpacking. Kemiart liners are perfectly suited for RRP thanks to their excellent strength-to-weight ratio and printability.

Retailers, consumers, brand owners and the environment all benefit from Retail Ready Packaging (RRP), a system of packaging and merchandising that allows goods to be moved directly to the shelf with minimal handling.

RRP provides better on-shelf availability by improving identification in the warehouse and pre-sort as well as making opening and shelf-filling easier. This improves stock rotation, reduces spoilage and increases sales. Costs are saved through faster replenishment and lower wage costs – package handling costs are up to three times higher than the packaging itself.

Kemiart liners are the perfect solution for corrugated Retail Ready Packaging. They enable you to produce high-strength packaging that remains in a pristine brand-building condition both at the store and all the way  home.

RRP is an ideal advertising medium

As target groups continue to diversify and the media to fragment, it will be increasingly difficult and costly to reach as many consumers with the same impact through traditional advertising. In-store display packaging remains an ideal advertising medium that connects with all consumer groups in their most receptive mood – shopping at their favourite outlet.

Complementing the primary pack, RRP improves product display and identification. There are also environmental advantages – RRP makes the supply chain more efficient and is produced from recyclable and sustainable corrugated materials.

Standardisation helps reduce costs
Standardisation of shelf design and dimensions can allay brand owners’ fears of rising costs, but this will require greater cooperation between retailers. The Corrugated Common Footprint Standard (CCF)in the US and Common Footprint Fefco Standard (CF) in Europe – standardised designs for corrugated containers - are good examples of such efforts.

CCF and CF streamline the process of getting produce from fields to grocery stores, eliminate the problem of unstable mixed loads and increase the volume of produce shipped on a pallet from a distribution centre. The modularity helps reduce costs in the supply chain - a major goal for retailers looking to improve their profits.
