For French champagne producer Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (VCP) it is vital that the packages displaying their rare vintage champagnes in retail stores reflect all the properties of the brand: luxury, quality and innovativeness.
In creating two different corrugated boxes − one for six CellarBoxes and another for a set of champagne bottle and cooler − VCP wanted to recreate the allure of its aluminium CellarBox as well as highlight the pure, original designs and emphasise their special features: the stackability of the boxes and the unique functionality of the cooler.
What’s more, the packages, the heavier of the two weighing around 11 kg, had to able to survive transportation, handling and storage without losing their cool visual appeal.
A metallic surface effect for an aluminium-like sheen
By selecting Kemiart Ultra as a surface liner VCP has achieved optimal print results, the correct brand colour shades and a metallic surface effect resembling the sheen of its aluminium CellarBox. The liner’s coated surface also allows the use of UV-resistant inks and protective varnish.
Seyfert Packaging Champagne, VCP’s corrugated packaging supplier, used its Seytec® ED corrugated structure, which provides an even print result and excellent box strength. With Kemiart Ultra, it was easy to achieve the desired print result in a standard flexo postprint process as well as keep the project on time and within budget.
The success of the joint endeavour was crowned by VCP and Seyfert receiving the Kemiart Forerunner 2007 award for the two corrugated packages.
