High impact shelf-appeal for Lipton Earl Grey tea
Lipton, part of Unilever, wanted the new packaging for its premium Earl Grey tea to replicate a metal box and have all the sustainability benefits of a paperboard carton. Its packaging converter believed that this could be achieved by putting a metallised printed finish onto a paperboard which then had a combination of gloss and matt effect varnishes added. The result was a highly attractive and eye-catching packaging which was functional to use and that offered the necessary sustainable credentials demanded by the client.
Recognising the demanding printing and finishing requirements needed to produce this box the decision was made to use MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright for its high brightness and smoothness and performance during converting. Also by selecting MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright Lipton had the guarantee of using folding boxboard only made from fresh fibres, traceably sourced from sustainably managed northern forests.
This packaging was selected as a finalist in the ‘Save The Planet’ category in the 2017 European Carton Excellence Awards.
