Metsä Board, as a Xeikon Aura Partner, will be participating in the forthcoming Xeikon Café Packaging Innovations in Lier, Belgium, on 20–23 March. Providing a perfect showcase for its paperboard products, Metsä Board, is aiming to use this event to inspire and inform packaging specifiers and users about the benefits of using paperboards made from fresh fibres for digitally printed packaging.
This event will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see a live demonstration of its MetsäBoard Pro FSB Cup coated foodservice board being printed on Xeikon hardware. In addition, visitors will be able to see MetsäBoard Pro FBB being used to create pharmaceutical packaging samples that will be digitally printed and die-cut during the show.
Recognising the increased focus upon providing sustainable packaging solutions Metsä Board will also be showing samples of MetsäBoard Pro FSB EB1. This new, innovative paperboard with a special barrier treatment is bio-based, recyclable and biodegradable, and developed especially for food service use. On top of the sustainability benefits of this new product it also offers efficiencies in printing and converting. In addition, Metsä Board’s technical experts will be available to help answer questions about digitally printed folding boxboard.
Lauri Järvinen, Technical Marketing Manager at Metsä Board, explains why attending this event is so important; “Digital printing is an optimum solution for short production runs and creating personalised paperboard-based packaging. The digital packaging value share of the total printed packaging market is expected to increase from 3.3% in 2017 to 5.3% by 2022, and for this level of growth to be achieved digital printing must be competitive against conventional methods. This will lead to the creation of new processes and service models for the whole supply chain. Digital printing can enable packaging to act as a new form of media and create a better level of brand connection to the consumer. As the use of digital techniques increases, Metsä Board will continue to develop competitive paperboards for new technologies working with a network of digital experts, including Xeikon.”
