When Kyrö Distillery was looking to introduce gift packaging for the Christmas season, it wanted a solution that would truly reflect the spirit of their brand, combining high quality and natural raw materials, simple design and simple technologies. The Napue Gin gift packaging was launched in time for the Christmas season and all 16,000 bottles were sold.
Metsä Board’s uncoated white kraftliner, MetsäBoard Natural WKL Bright, was selected for its pure, natural and tactile feel. A premium look was achieved by using MetsäBoard Natural WKL Bright both as a fluting and liner. The result was a simple, pure and eye-catching white box on which text was stamped in black or silver foil. The foiling process generated a light debossing to increase consumer perception of a hand-crafted box.
The Napue Gin gift packaging was produced by Pyroll in Finland and the material for the carton, N-microflute, was supplied by DS Smith Sheetfeeding located in Kettering in the UK. Starcke, a Finnish company that provides special graphical effects for packaging, took care of the foiling resulting in an eye-catching gift package.
In keeping with the brand, the graphical style was kept restrained; as with the gin, it was important to focus on content and quality. Colour was kept to a minimum, using only black and white with silver, copper and gold accents – silver for clear, unaged spirits and copper for matured ones. Gold was reserved for the forthcoming rye whisky. The Kyrö Distillery Company’s strong brand is the result of intense cooperation with a Helsinki-based brand agency Werklig.
Napue Gin, produced by Kyrö Distillery, was voted as ‘The World’s Best Gin for Gin & Tonic’ at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 2015. In 2016 Napue also won the gold medal in the San Francisco World Spirit Competition premium gin-series.
