The jury was looking for excellence in design, convenience, brand communication and the major role paperboard plays as a sustainable packaging material. Pro Carton ECMA Awards 2016 achieved a new record in terms of entries.

In total there were seven finalists using Metsä Board products, all in the running, but in the end there were three outright winners.

Carton of the year 2016 – My. Von Erl

Carton of the year 2016

Brand owner: Von Erl
Carton producer: A&R Carton Graz
Paperboard: Metsä Board’s Carta Solida

The judges commented that; “From the front face the carton looks like a refined, premium pack with lovely embossing, hot foil and varnishes. It is not until you open it that the My. Von Erl pack really creates that ‘wow’ moment. Without the use of any other material other than cartonboard, the pack holds together – and presents beautifully.  The board engineering is truly impressive.”

BEAUTY & COSMETICS – Flormar All Eyes on Me Collection

ECMA Beaty & Cosmetics winner

Brand owner: Kosan Kozmetik
Carton producer: Printpark
Paperboard: Metsä Board’s Carta Solida

The Pro Carton ECMA Awards judges were fascinated by the look and feel of the Beauty & Cosmetics category winner. For maximum display impact this ambitious design focused on two popular consumer trends: a hounds-tooth pattern (which is very popular in the textiles and cosmetics industries), and an equally popular velvety texture. This demanding approach resulted in the cosmetics industry's first carton that features a velvety and tactile hounds-tooth decoration on a matt metallised surface.
